Bee Kind: The Art, Myth, & Magic of Bees

This will also coincide with the launch of our summer show, which will be celebrating the beloved bee, titled “Bee Kind: The Art, Myth, & Magic of Bees.” We will be featuring the beautiful artwork of Natali Baird, who uses pastels to illustrate the marvelous nature of bees. She says:

“There is symmetry between the way bees gather dusty pollen on their bodies and the way pastels are made up of coloured dust pigments that stick to the paper. As I study and draw pictures of bees, I thus feel a connection with them that is reflected in my medium.”

Join us for an extra special evening with Natali on Thursday, May 23rd from 5 – 7:30 pm as we kick off the show. There will be delicious honey themed food, drinks, and treats!

You can find out more about Natali in our Artist Feature here, and on her website here.

We will also be launching a new jewelry collection called “Bee Inspired” with local artist Tessa Rand celebrating the sweet bees. We love collaborating with Tessa, and are so excited for the precious new pieces she is creating for us. You can find more info about Tessa on our Artist Collective page here.

Supporting Local Bee Work

We will be making special bracelets adorned with bee charms for this summer show and donating a portion of all sales to Vancouver’s Hives for Humanity.

Hives for Humanity (Hives) is a nonprofit society that creates opportunities for connection to community, through nature, bees and the culture of the hive. We foster self-worth and community pride through skills sharing and experiential learning, working with socially and economically vulnerable populations facing barriers to stability.

Stay tuned for more upcoming posts about the magic of bees and how they inspire us both personally and collectively. It’s going to be an exciting summer, and we can’t wait to see you!
