The history of candles dates back thousands of years. For centuries, cultures around the world have used candles in ceremonies, rituals, celebrations, as well as for sustainable non-electric lighting. However you use them, candles bring beauty, warmth, light, and comfort into any space.

All of us at the Crystalworks gallery enjoy using candles. Over the years, we were inspired to design and commission candle lights and holders. Working collaboratively with Dale Ramsey, we created the Agate Slice Candlelights and the Quartz Lotus Candlelights. We also designed and commissioned a series of spherical votives in rose quartz and iron included quartz from a fair trade workshop in Madagascar.

The following images show the products available in our online store as well as our Gallery. Because we fully believe in beeswax, each one of our proprietary designs comes complete with an artisanal Canadian made beeswax candle.

As you may have heard, we have a Green Gallery and take pride in our sustainability efforts. Due to this, beeswax candles were the perfect option for our crystal decor pieces.

Compared to other candles like soy or paraffin, beeswax is superior. Beeswax burns cleaner, is longer lasting, and does not release chemicals or harsh parfums. It has even been said that beeswax creates a negative ion energy, helping to purify the air around you. When lit, they create a warm sun-like glow that brings a sense of harmony to any space.

A fantastic gift for any candle lover in your life.

Have you tried meditating with a candle?

“Trataka is one of the six cleansing techniques in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, the classical text on the practices of Hatha Yoga. It is defined as “looking intently with an unwavering gaze at a small point until the eyes begin to tear,” by the great teachers. Trataka meditation, also known as a trataka sadhana or candle-gazing meditation, is a meditation technique in which the practitioner centers his focus on a single visual point.

Often trataka is done with a candle, with your focus being the flame. A candle gazing meditation helps bring energy to the third eye, increases concentration, and improves memory.”
